Oscar-winner Jon Voight has gained both popular and critical acclaim as a television, theatre, and film actor. He has played roles in many inspirational films such as Glory Road and Conrack (a film based on writer Pat Conroy's experiences as a teacher). In fact, Jeff Hephner, a CAMIE® winner for his leading role as Pat Conroy in the Hallmark Hall of Fame production of "The Water is Wide" (a film also based on Pat Conroy's teaching experiences) acknowledged Jon from the CAMIE® stage. Jeff thanked Jon for putting out "some big shoes to fill."
Jon first became involved with the CAMIE® organization when he won a CAMIE® for his role as the Pope in "Pope John Paul II". He has since then become a beloved member of the CAMIE® family, and we are thrilled to have him on board.

Phil Harris once introduced Pat Boone, saying: "Here's a guy that doesn't smoke, drink, or cuss. He graduated from college, never cheated on a test, stayed married to one girl for over twenty-five years [which has now been for over 55 years], and raised his family right in the middle of Hollywood without a breath of scandal."
This comes from Pat's fascinating book "Pat Boone's America 50 Years," the jacket of which asks, "Who else has remained so true to his faith, family values, and love of God while being mobbed by screaming teenage girls, starring in Hollywood movies, befriending world leaders and rock stars alike, and staring out from the cover of Rolling Stone magazine? Yet Pat Boone continues to live a remarkable life of integrity."
One of America's great singers, his classic ballads "April Love," "Maybe You'll be there," "Secret Love," and "It's only a Paper Moon," created soft, gentel feelings, as did his movies like "April Love," with Shirley Jones, filled with positive role modeling, hard to find in movies today.
To Pat and Shirley, their four girls, Cherry, Lindy, Debby and Laury, are the most important things. Pat said in his book, "The sense of decency and family that used to have center-stage in American life is fast becoming a footnote of history" and asks, "Where's the America I used to know? It seems like it was here just a minute ago. What happened to it? Where did it go?" adding, "I like selling people on some old ideas that still work, examples of togetherness in action that get people fired up about the values of faith, fun, and fortitude – that just make them feel good again about the whole idea of family."
You can see why Pat Boone is a perfect fit for the CAMIE® advisory board.
When she was on the CAMIE® stage, Shirley was referred to as "America's favorite mom" and nobody agrees with that more than we do. This acclaimed Oscar-winning actress and singer has played some of the most beloved roles of stage, film, and television--from the mother on The Partridge Family to Julie in the popular Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, Carousel. She won a CAMIE® award for her endearing appearance as Aunt Batty in the Hallmark Channel film, Hidden Places. She is a fantastic woman, whose personality prompts respect and love from everyone she meets--and we are thrilled to have her in the CAMIE® family.
