"Gifted Hands--the Ben Carson Story" is another powerful true story everyone should see. Young Ben Carson had been getting Ds and Fs in school until his mother got him a pair of glasses, turned off the TV, and sent Ben and his brother to the library. What a great example! Once Ben fell in love with books and learning, he became a great success in high school, college, and then medical school. This is the same Dr. Ben Carson who is now a world renown pediatric neurosurgeon at John Hopkins.
This inspiring film was brought to us by TNT as a Johnson & Johnson Spotlight Presentation®. Everything about this film is outstanding, particularly the acting by Cuba Gooding, Jr. as Dr. Benjamin Carson who came up with a way to solve what were impossible medical and surgical problems, not the least of which was separating twins born conjoined at the head. Before when anyone had tried to separate conjoined brains, one of the twins always died. The problem was bleeding. Who would have thought the answer was to stop the hearts of the two babies--with a one-hour window to separate all the connected blood vessels in their brains.
The directing and cinematography were spectacular. Thanks to everyone involved in creating one of the finest films in years.
